Bridging Ancestral Craft from Past to Future follows the full wool journey across Ladakh, made in partnership with WeAreKal — from the Changpa herders living above 5,000 meters on the Changthang Plateau, to the weavers of Leh who transform that wool into hand-spun, hand-woven textile. Many of those weavers were born in Kharnak themselves; through WeAreKal, their craft and their families remain bound to the community they left behind. This reportage was shortlisted for the 2026 Textile Exchange × Atmos "Fashion Regenerated" photography competition.
